How Our Open Back Tops Work

1. Unsnap both the closures at the shoulder seams of the top.

2. From the front, slide the sleeves up the arms of the wearer until the opening reaches their back (no lifting required).

3. Once the top is in place, pull the first panel across the back and snap it in place at the shoulder.

4. Now take the second panel, pull across, creating an overlap, and snap again.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is adaptive clothing?

Adaptive clothing is designed for those who are unable to wear traditional clothing and apparel for a variety of reasons. Adaptive designs may be needed for people who have physical disabilities, the elderly or those in recovery from surgery. They may have difficulty getting themselves dressed because of an inability to operate fasteners, or loss of full range of motion needed to dress themselves. Our innovative buttons, zippers, snaps, hidden magnets or easy touch closures are added to apparel and accessories to simplify the dressing experience for the caregiver, family and wearer.

Who can wear adaptive clothing?

Seniors with physical disabilities, wheelchair users, elderly with limited mobility and the infirm who may have difficulty dressing without assistance can benefit from adaptive wear. Silvert’s Adaptive clothing line is for those individuals who need struggle-free and pain-free dressing options. For seniors, one of the main difficulties in dressing is not being able to fasten buttons or zippers due to loss of fine motor skills and movement with hands and fingers so materials such as hook and loop fasteners, easy access snaps, side zippers, and stretchy fabrics are used to provide solutions for self dressing or undressing.

What adaptive clothing options are there?

Adaptive clothing features open back functionality in tops, side open designs in pants, hidden magnetic snap fasteners instead of conventional buttons and easy touch closures in footwear. All these helpful features enable seniors or disabled people to dress with dignity, comfort and style.

We are simplified dressing for empowered living.

What should I know about open back tops?

Wearers can be dressed without lifting their arms or contorting their upper body as with traditional over-the-head tops. This is helpful for individuals with limited upper body mobility. The open back means the top can be put on from the front and snapped at the shoulders with minimal jostling. The wearer can be dressed from a seated, standing or lying position. The panels at the back can be snapped into place easily, providing full coverage and discretion from behind. Caregivers do not have to lift or shift the wearer, avoiding risk of injury and burnout.
